DWL Cuppa on the Couch Series

In response to COVID-19, DWL hosted a number of different events through online Zoom sessions. One such initiative was the DWL Cuppa on the Couch series which focused on the wellbeing of Diverse Women during an unprecedented time by facilitating four informal discussions with our students and young lawyer network.

Wellbeing & Resilience

Our incredible panel featuring Kathryn Viegas (DWL Board Member and Director, Nomos), Merinda Dutton (Solicitor, Legal Aid) and Anna Coroneo (Senior Associate, Herbert Smith Freehills) came together to discuss how to stay resilient, connected and protect our wellbeing. Topics that were explored include:

  • how do we combat feelings of isolation or stay motivated, especially when we are stressed or overwhelmed?

  • how do we stay productive and connected during a time of remote working?

  • what are the disproportionate impacts of the virus on vulnerable communities who aren’t equipped with certain privileges or opportunities that others may be afforded?

  • what is some advice for those who have been disadvantaged or affected by the pandemic on how to stay resilient, connected and protect our wellbeing?

Watch the full session to hear their tips and insights!

Student Feedback

They are more relaxed and informal which makes what the panelists say feel more genuine. When the environment is a bit more relaxed i feel more comfortable to ask questions
I really enjoyed the honesty and candid nature, the genuine attitude of everyone and the openness of everyone to discuss ideas and questions.
I loved that it was informal, you could have a laugh and ask questions without pressure. Additionally, I think some of the discussions to come from the sessions were extremely insightful and the tips I took away were very useful
