Careers Beyond COVID-19

DWL was excited to launch Careers Beyond COVID-19, an awareness-raising initiative aimed at exploring career opportunities, sectors and pathways available to law students. During October 2020, DWL facilitated a number of panel events with esteemed professionals across a range of sectors including: legal technology, construction, forensics, social enterprise, social justice and beyond. This was an opportunity for student’s to widen their horizons, push boundaries and think outside the box!

In Conversation with Legal Technology Experts @ Allens 6 Oct @ 6pm

DWL was excited to partner with Allens to facilitate an online panel discussion with Legal Technology experts from Allens' Innovation and Digital Solutions (IDS) team. This was a unique opportunity for diverse women to hear from esteemed professionals on why they chose to enter the legal technology sector, the transferable skills required in their role and why legal technology is a thriving and growing job market.

Careers in Social Justice and Criminal Law

DWL was excited to present part two of its Careers beyond Covid-19 series where attendees heard from esteemed representatives with experience at the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP), Aboriginal Legal Service (ALS) and Legal Aid NSW. Students and junior lawyers had the unique opportunity to hear from talented panellists about the importance of diversity in the criminal law sector, what we can do to improve representation, and what pathways are available to law students wanting to turn their passion for social justice into a career.  

This event was moderated by Supreme Court Justice and DWL Chairperson, The Honourable Justice Yehia SC.

Careers in Social Impact, Start ups and Venture Capital 15 Oct @ 6pm

DWL was excited to present an online panel discussion exploring careers in social impact, venture capital, start-ups and entrepreneurship. This was a unique opportunity for diverse women to hear from esteemed professionals on how they paved a career in social enterprise and entrepreneurship, the transferrable skills from a law degree and how to gain exposure in this field.
