Who are we?

“DWL’s primary objective is the pursuit of excellence, best achieved by mentoring, training, promoting and collaborating with the rich diversity of women entering the profession or already in the profession. Sponsor firms are a critical component in our pursuit and their contribution to date has been invaluable. It is hoped that 2026 will strengthen and extend our existing relations with leading law firms”

— Ragni Mathur SC, 2026 DWL Chair

How do we achieve it?

By providing opportunity pathways, professional development and advocacy, in partnership with supporters, champions, and allies.

How do we define Diverse Women?

DWL aims to support those who self-identify as women, non binary and gender diverse through all stages of their legal studies and differing careers and who also self-identify as being from one or more of the following underrepresented backgrounds:

  • culturally and linguistically diverse persons;

  • Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander persons;

  • LGBTQI+ persons;

  • people living with a disability;

  • people who are or have experienced socioeconomic disadvantage; and

  • people with caring responsibilities,

(together, Diverse Women).

“DWL has given me more than a network, it has given me a community where I can engage with other like-minded individuals. DWL is a safe space where different voices are valued, lived experiences are respected, and collective strength turns diversity into impact where inclusion becomes a professional advantage”

– Sabreen Hussain, Board Member
